I only wonder how could you find that way ? :) Was it intuitive, or by logic, or by knowledge ?
It really worked for me.
thank you very much

* Uninstalled the concerned apps.
* Switched the device off.
* Waited for some 10 minutes.
* Switched the device back on.
* Reinstalled the apps from the App Store directly via the iPhone (no iTunes, no Sync).

I've recently bought a new, 32gb iPhone 3GS and it has gotten stuck or froze numerous times as well as app icons being mixed up. The freezing problem only takes a few minutes to fix, (press home button and power button simultaneously) so it doesn't bother me very much, but the app icon mix up is what really pisses me off. I think that apple should fix these issues immediately. I'm starting to think about just giving my iPhone 3GS away and buying a new phone. The iPhone 3GS has way too many problems to worry about. I just want a phone that works and doesn't freeze up and glitch.

Ralf,

THANK YOU! I did all five steps you recommended, and now everything is as it should be. Thanks so much!

This worked perfectly.

after all installed apps suddenly started shutting down inmediately after I tried to start them, I did that and it worked. For 24 hours. then all my icons changed and got mixed. The app's name was correct but the icons where shuffled. I even had icons from apps that I had previously deleted.
Now I'm trying to figure out how to fix it and how to avoid it in the future.
